St. Paul's Children's Choir is a vibrant and growing children's choir open to students in Grades 1-5, now in its fifth season. Led by a dedicated adult team of teachers and parents, we have seen hope, faith and love flower in the hearts of children and have witnessed God working through them to build up the faith life of parishioners and parents. We have a high number of returning students as choir members join each season to learn new songs, learn about music, learn more about our Catholic faith, grow closer to God and form special lasting friendships!
We also have a Little Angels Choir for children age 5 and 6. In this choir we introduce musical concepts, rhythm and singing skills in a worship environment.
We are an international community, reaching out to parents and children who are looking to connect or re-connect with the Church and the community. Single parent? Separated? Married? Active in the church? Away from the church and wanting to return and get your children involved? You are welcome here.
Faith and Spirituality
Children seem to have an innate sense of the sacred. Spiritual growth is encouraged in our children’s choir program as we spend time at each rehearsal connecting the music we sing to our Catholic faith, Christian walk and to the importance of Community Service. We do this through prayer activities, scripture focus, drama, discussions and modeling.
Rehearsals and Events
Rehearsals on Tuesdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. or later (see schedule) and other extra scheduled rehearsals. The St. Paul’s Children’s choir will participate monthly during our morning Mass. They will also sing at the Christmas Eve Family Mass, Holy Week, Easter and other special service oriented events. We prefer to have a moderate size choir of children and parents who are invested musically, spiritually, and calendarly (I just made that word up – it means that parents enter scheduled events on their calendar for children’s choir activities and honor them :) in the program and in our church community rather than a large choir with limited participation and availability. The Children’s Choir takes place in a “semester format” with opportunities to register in the fall and spring.
Mentoring and growth, both musical and spiritual, is also an important aspect of our program. During the Children’s Choir experience we look for and help to mentor gifted students in both vocal and instrumental skills. Once they “graduate”, we offer and encourage students to participate in our Youth Praise program (grade 6 through 12) which is the next step in the growth process (see Youth Praise page).
