Our Lady Star of the Sea Praesidium is a unit of the Legion of Mary. As Mary’s army we Legionaries assist Fr. Wencil in taking Christ out to the world by evangelizing and fighting evil. There are currently 11 active members (including the officers and 1 probationary) and a little over 100 Auxiliary Members.
Together as Legionaries we are on a journey towards sanctification.
Our Legion of Mary meetings are on Mondays at 6:45 p.m. in room 1 and we have plans to start up a daytime Praesidium. Our Legionary assignments are focused on Spiritual Works of Mercy and are performed in pairs. We
Visit and
Pray the Rosary (or
the Divine Mercy Chaplet) with nursing home residents, homebound parishioners, and families receiving the
Pilgrim Virgin Statue as well as at funerals (upon request); assist with
Communion Services;
Evangelize thru
Book Borrow in front of St. Vincent de Paul offices,
Door-To-Door and
Catholic booth at the Strawberry Festival;
Catechize nursing home residents and CCE students; set up an altar for Our Lord at the
Corpus Christi Procession, Crown Mary at the
May Crowning, assist with
Home Enthronements, with
Our Lady of Guadalupe festivities,
National Prayer Life Chain along Nasa Rd 1; go on
Summer Outings and many other
Fun activities.
We are in need of more active Legionaries for the daytime and evening Praesidiums so that we may have enough members to
Visit newly registered parishioners, newly Baptized, newly married;
Evangelize to the youth;
Catechize students in RCIC, RCIA, CCE and the homebound as well as those in nursing homes;
teach others about the
rosary including how to
make rosaries. The list is endless!
We must forget ourselves, our own comforts and desires and concentrate completely on what we can do for others with the power of the Holy Spirit and the ministering help of Mary.
