We invite you to join us in service to our Lord through service to our neighbors in need. Our parish conference serves neighbors in need by providing food and financial assistance.
Many skills are needed to assist neighbors with various needs.A large number of volunteers are needed to staff the food fairs and Pantry Hours of service (English & Bilingual) and volunteers are always needed.
VOLUNTEERS
Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult who Safe Haven certified. (See link for training)
CHANGES IN VOLUNTEERS PICKING UP FOOD for Food Fairs or during Pantry Hours (8/2024)
Volunteers who need to pick up food for themselves must wait until the end of the distribution to be served from the Pantry or at a Food Fair. (TDA 8/2024 update).
Volunteers serving as a proxy, may not pick up food while on duty at the Pantry or at a Food Fair.
Volunteers serving as proxies must go through the regular intake process before receiving any food to take to a neighbor in need.
Volunteers should park their cars in the line with the neighbors we serve and meet the same eligibility requirements applied to all neighbors needing food.
These Volunteers need to finish their shift (turn in vest/gloves) before being served. Once served, the Volunteer should not return to work.
We are still packing bags to be distributed at the Welcome Center for those in need. Donations of non-perishable food are always accepted and can be dropped off at the Welcome Center. Items such as the following are always welcomed/needed:
Similar to food, tolietries alre always welcome/need. Items such as the following can be dropped off at the Welcome Center:
If you would like to make a financial donation to help our neighbors in need, donations may be made to the ministry via:
St. Paul the Apostle Catholic Church
18223 Point Lookout Dr.
Nassau Bay, TX 77058
The St. Paul's Conference does not accept donated household items or clothing. However, you can contact our SVDP Service Center to donate your items. Many of the goods that are donated to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul will go toward our Voucher Ministry program, where individuals and families in need are either visited by one of our volunteers or referred by someone to our organization. Goods are then offered to them free of charge in a confidential and dignified way.
Your gently used clothing, furniture and household items become an integral part of the story for change. Things that you may think to throw away (even food) could have a huge impact on people within your very own community. Before you throw items away, consider donating them to Society of St. Vincent de Paul.
All items sold in our Resale Shops fund our programs to help others have a better quality of life and give them hope. Some of your things may go directly to those in need by way of our Voucher Ministry. Either way, rest assured the Society can find a better home for your gently used goods or unwanted items than the landfill. Schedule a pickup.
