First and foremost, a Catholic church is a sacred place where we gather in thanksgiving and praise. Every day there, in every mass, God’s sacred covenant with His people is renewed: “I will be your God, and you will be my people.” By getting married in a Catholic church, you are acknowledging Who God is, what His plan is for you, and what your role is in bringing about the kingdom of Heaven on earth. As such, a Catholic church is built to reflect the reality of God’s spectacular promise to us. St. Paul’s is no different; it was built to reflect a sense of unity and sacred simplicity. It is beautiful as it is; no further decorations are necessary. But if you do decide to add décor, there are some important policies to use in guiding your decisions.
We have small, medium and large urns for flower arrangements. The urns CANNOT leave the church. Arrangements can be made with your floral designer to visit the church to measure the urns and photograph them for reference, if needed. Please let our art and environment coordinator know where you would like the urns or vases put and we will have them in place for your rehearsal and for your florist the day of the wedding.
Small, medium and tall pedestals also are available for flower displays.
We ask that you only use FRESH flowers on the altar.
No flower petals of any kind, fresh or silk, can be used on the aisles of the church
Nothing can be placed on the end of the pews.
No candelabras of any kind can be used in the church or on the altar.
Many brides choose to have a guest book on the table in the narthex. If you'd like to have a floral display by the guest book, please plan to use only a bud vase or a small cube vase for the arrangement.
The altar is decorated for CHRISTMAS on Christmas Eve through the Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord, about three weeks after Christmas.
No glitter is allowed in any bouquet.
If you plan on leaving your flowers on the altar for our weekend masses, please let the volunteer coordinator of art and environment know, so she can cancel the standard order from our florist.
